ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville women's tennis team closes out its home portion of the 2012 season Thursday afternoon when the Bulldogs host Presbyterian College at the Asheville Racquet Club downtown starting at 2 p.m.
Asheville (6-14, 0-7 BSC) looks for its first Big South Conference win today against the Blue Hose. The young Bulldogs have battled injuries and have four freshmen in their starting lineup.
"We're getting some great experience this year that will pay off down the road," commented Bulldog coach Lise Gregory. "We have shown improvement with each match and that's always encouraging."
Prior to the match, the Bulldogs will honor senior Devon Cavanaugh who will play in her final regular season home match. Cavanaugh has been a four-year starter for the Bulldogs who has been plagued this year by injuries but his still managed to play in doubles and some singles matches.
Asheville will be home next week when the Bulldogs host the Big South Conference Tennis Championships. The women's portion of the tournament will start on Thursday, April 19 at the Asheville Racquet Club South location located on Hendersonville Road.
