ASHEVILLE, N.C.  – The UNC Asheville women’s tennis team cruised to its 12th victory of the year with a 7-0 victory over short-handed King College in the final regular-season match of the season Thursday afternoon at the ARC.


The Bulldogs (12-9) clinched a winning season with the victory. The Tornados only brought four players on the day so Asheville had a 2-0 lead before the match started.


The home team quickly won the doubles point by getting wins at the #1 and #2 doubles. Zoe Hamel and Ericka Rivero won their match, 8-0 at #1 before Christine Boissevain and Emily McNall won at #2, 8-1.


Asheville won its four singles matches that were played in straight sets. Hamel won at #1 flight over Naomi Reyes, 6-1, 6-0, McNall followed suit at #2 with a 6-2, 6-1 triumph over Mariana Hosomi, 6-2, 6-1.


Amryn Solider played at #3 on the day and posted a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Karissa King, 6-0, 6-1. Freshman Ericka Rivero improved to 15-6 on the year with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Amanda Huffaker.


The Bulldogs will play next in the Big South Conference championships at Winthrop next week. Asheville will find out its opponent on Sunday.
