ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville women’s tennis team returns to the courts on Saturday when the Bulldogs host Coastal Carolina at the Asheville Racquet Club Downtown starting at Noon. Admission is free.
Asheville (9-8, 2-4 BSC) hopes to make a move in the league standings against the Chanticleers (9-7, 4-1 BSC). The Bulldogs are enjoying their most successful season since the 2010 campaign. Lise Gregory’s young team has already surpassed its win total from last season (6).
Asheville also plays on Sunday at Big South rival Winthrop starting at 2p.m.
The Blue & White are being led this year in singles play by freshman Ericka Rivero. The Bolivian native has posted a 12-5 singles record at #3 singles.
Asheville has been especially successful in doubles play. The Bulldogs have compiled a 31-19 doubles record this season.
“Our young players have really stepped up and played well this year,” commented Bulldog coach Lise Gregory. “We’ve still got plenty of improving to do but we’re making some nice strides this year and have been very competitive.
“We hope we can get a good crowd out to see our match with Coastal Carolina on Saturday,” added Gregory.
