Women's Tennis Seeded Sixth at Big South Championships
Release: 04/14/2013

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville women’s tennis team earned the sixth seed for the 2013 Big South Conference championships that will be held at Winthrop starting on Wednesday.

The Bulldogs will face third-seeded Campbell on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. Asheville lost a close 4-3 decision to the Lady Camels last month in Buies Creek.

Lise Gregory’s team is much improved this season. The Bulldogs have clinched their first winning season in three years with a 12-9 record. After not winning a league match for two seasons, Asheville compiled a  4-5 worksheet this year in league play.

“I’m really proud of how our women’s team has improved this year and where we are,” commented Gregory. “We have everybody back next year so the future is bright for us.

“We had a close match with Campbell earlier this season,” added Gregory. “It should be a great match on Thursday, and we’ll need to play well.”
