ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville women’s tennis team begins a busy week today when the Bulldogs host North Greenville at the Asheville Racquet Club Downtown starting at 2 p.m. Admission is free.


Asheville stands at 9-4 on the year and 2-1 in Big South Conference play. After today’s match, the Bulldogs play three league matches this week.


Lise Gregory’s club starts the BSC stretch with a match at Charleston Southern Tuesday at 2 p.m., followed by a road match at Liberty Friday and Radford on Saturday.


“We’ve got some big matches this week starting with today’s contest against North Greenville,” commented Bulldog coach Lise Gregory. “We just need to take them one at a time and see where we are next week.”


Emily McNall leads the way for Asheville in singles with an 8-2 worksheet. Ericka Rivero is 9-4 on the season with Zoe Hamel behind her at 8-4.


The Bulldogs have been very tough to beat in doubles action as Asheville has compiled a 30-7 overall record this year. Emily McNall and Gillian Lewis are 6-1 at #3 flight, while Zoe Hamel and Ericka Rivero are 11-2 at #1 flight.
