Charlotte Holds Off Women's Tennis, 5-2

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - UNC Asheville earned the doubles point but unbeaten Charlotte won five singles matches to hold off the Bulldogs 5-2 in women's tennis action Saturday afternoon.

Asheville (3-4) stunned the 49ers in doubles action to take a 1-0 lead going into singles. The doubles team of Emily McNall and Christie Bossevain won at the second flight in a tie-breaker, 9-7. Armyn Soldier and Jenna Dodge cruised in their match at the third flight, 8-1.

In singles action, Dodge won her match in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4 but the Bulldogs could not get another win as Charlotte improved to 7-0 on the season.

Asheville is back in action on Sunday when the Bulldogs entertain Brevard College at 3 p.m.
