ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville volleyball team is home at Justice Center this weekend for two key Big South Conference matches on Friday and Saturday. The Bulldogs host Charleston Southern Friday night at 7 p.m. and Coastal Carolina Saturday at 6 p.m.

Both matches will be video-streamed and can be seen under the multi-media tag at Saturday's match will be the annual Dig Pink match to help raise awareness and money for the fight against breast cancer.

Asheville (6-16, 2-4 BSC) has had a week off after a disappointing 3-1 home loss to Gardner-Webb last Friday night. The Bulldogs are looking to move up in the league standings as Asheville is in ninth place right now.

Frederico Santos' club faces some two tough challenges this weekend. Charleston Southern (9-15, 3-4 BSC) is much improved from last year, while Coastal Carolina (7-11, 5-2 BSC) has been a real surprise in league play in 2012.

"As I've been saying all along, the league is very balanced this year, and we're seeing that every night," explained Santos. "You really have an incredible amount of parity this season and that's going to make the conference tournament a real battle.

"We need to play better than we've been playing," added Santos. "Last week's Gardner-Webb match was a tough one for us to lose at home but they outplayed us. We simply need to play to our potential. However, as we've learned this year that when we don't play well or we're not as sharp, we lose."

Senior outside hitter Holly Shelton continues to lead the Bulldogs in kills this year with a 2.95 per set average. Junior Anna Moore tops the club in blocks (0.96) and hitting percentage (.271). Junior Alex Stewart leads Asheville in digs (2.79).
