ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville volleyball team ends its three-game homestand on Thursday night when the Bulldogs host North Carolina A&T at Justice Center starting at 7 p.m. Admission is $6 for adults and $3 for children.

Thursday’s match will be video-streamed and can be seen for free on the Big South Digital Network under the multimedia tag at uncabulldogs.com. The match will be the volleyball team’s Pink Out Match to support the fight against breast cancer. Fans are encouraged to wear pink for the match.

Asheville enjoyed a great weekend at home last Friday and Saturday as the Bulldogs earned two key Big South Conference wins.  The Blue & White downed Winthrop 3-1 on Friday and roared past Presbyterian College, 3-0 Saturday afternoon.

The two victories improved Asheville’s record to 12-8 overall and 3-2 in the Big South. The Bulldogs are tied for second place in the Big South with five other teams. Asheville’s 12 wins matches the Bulldogs entire total from last season.

This will be the second meeting between the Bulldogs and Aggies this season. Asheville downed NC A&T 3-0 earlier this year at a tournament at UNC Wilmington. The Aggies have a 4-19 worksheet on the year and lost to Gardner-Webb on Tuesday, 3-1.

“North Carolina A&T’s record is quite deceiving,” explained Asheville coach Frederico Santos. “They’ve played a tough schedule and given everybody a tough match. We’ll need to play like we did this weekend to have a chance at winning.”

Santos was pleased the Bulldogs took care of business at home this weekend.

“We played well for the most part and won two important matches last weekend,” commented Santos. “I thought we got better in each match as the match progressed. We’re still not as consistent as I’d like, but we’re showing some improvement.”

Asheville will have little time to rest after the match with North Carolina A&T as the Bulldogs face a crucial road match at league rival Gardner-Webb Friday night at 7 p.m.
