ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville volleyball team will try to build on its six-game winning streak when it goes on the road to face Gardner-Webb at Paul Porter Arena starting at 7 p.m. The match will be video-streamed and can be seen for a small fee at www.uncabulldogs.com.

The Bulldogs (18-10, 10-4 BSC) are in third place in the Big South Conference standings and still have an outside chance of finishing either first or second with a little help. Asheville coach Julie Torbett simply wants to win on Tuesday and play good volleyball.

"You can't get caught up in what other teams are doing," commented Torbett. "We simply have to take care of our business, and everything will work itself out. The only thing I'm concerned about is how we play."

Asheville faces a Gardner-Webb team that is having a frustrating season. The Runnin' Bulldogs are 5-23 overall and 0-13 in the Big South. Asheville beat Gardner-Webb in three sets back on Sept. 21 at Justice Center.

"Gardner-Webb is so much better than its record," declared Torbett. "They've been in most of their matches, have taken a set or two sets off most of their conference opponents.  They've just been unlucky in a lot of matches. We better be ready to play because I know we will get Gardner-Webb's best effort tonight."

Asheville finishes the regular-season at Big South leader Liberty Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. The Big South Tournament will be at Winthrop from Nov. 18-20.

"We just want to keep playing well and getting better," stated Torbett. "Our team has shown a lot of improvement this year against a tough schedule. However, we still have some work to do. We want to be playing our best volleyball next week at the tournament."

NOTES - UNC Asheville played its last six matches at home and not played a road match since a 3-1 loss at Coastal Carolina on Oct. 23...the Bulldogs finished the year 8-1 at home and that's the least amount of losses at Justice Center since the 2002 season...Julie Torbett now has 303 career victories at Asheville...Kelsey Benorden was named Big South Player of the Week for the second time this year on Monday...Benorden has posted three straight double-doubles (kills & digs)...Asheville has played 19 matches away from home this season.
