ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville volleyball team will be at home this weekend when the Bulldogs host two Big South Conference matches. Asheville hosts Presbyterian College Friday evening at Justice Center starting at 7 p.m. They'll entertain league-leader Winthrop Saturday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. Both matches will be video-streamed and can be seen at www.uncabulldogs.com.

The Bulldogs (9-7, 2-1 BSC) have won six of their last eight matches. Asheville knocked off Western Carolina 3-0 on Tuesday at Justice Center.

First-year coach Frederico Santos' club face a Presbyterian College team that is 6-11 overall but 2-1 in league play.

"Presbyterian has a solid team. They've played a tough schedule but have posted two impressive conference wins," admitted Santos. "We're going to have to be at our best both Friday and Saturday to have a chance at winning."

Winthrop is currently tied for first place in the Big South Conference with Liberty at 3-0. The Eagles are coached by former Bulldog head coach Julie Torbett, who led the Asheville program for 17 seasons before moving to Rock Hill last spring.

"We know Winthrop will be well-coached," stated Santos. "They have a very good team, and they do everything well."

UNC Asheville is 11-1 in home matches over the last two years.

The Bulldogs have played 14 of their 16 matches away from home this season.

Asheville is 26-9 in BSC matches since the 2009 season.

The Bulldogs are 3-0 in five-set matches this year.

Asheville is second in the Big South in assists (11.09) and kills (12.05).

Cindi Miller has eight double-doubles this season.

Alex Stewart has five matches with 20 digs or more during the year.
