ASHEVILLE, N.C. -Senior volleyball player Holly Shelton is this week's winner of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina Athlete of the Week at UNC Asheville.
Each week the school selects a BCBSNC Athlete of the Week upon their performance from the previous week's action. It marks the second time Shelton has won the award. She won the initial award of the year on Sept. 10.
Shelton played a big role in UNC Asheville's 2-0 week. She totaled 33 kills with a .275 percentage and averaged 4.12 kills per set. She also tallied 17 digs and five blocks. In the 3-2 win against Presbyterian, she recorded 18 kills, 13 digs and three blocks. In Shelton's final home match as a Bulldog, she recorded another 15 kills, four digs and two blocks against Winthrop.
The Brevard native was named Big South Player of the Week on Monday for the first time in her career. Asheville finishes up the regular season at Liberty on Friday night and Radford on Saturday.
