CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville volleyball team will be the No. 5 seed in the upcoming Big South Volleyball Championship presented by Musco Sports Lighting at the Templeton Center on the campus of Presbyterian College beginning on Thursday, as the Bulldogs will face the No. 4 seed Liberty Flames in the opening round.

Radford will be the No. 1 seed in the tournament, finishing the season with an 11-3 record in league games. Coastal Carolina finished its season with a 10-4 Big South record to earn the No. 2 seed.  High Point and Liberty tied for third in the Big South standings at 9-5, and the Panthers receive the No. 3 seed with its season series win over the Flames, giving Liberty the No. 4 seed.

Asheville, Presbyterian College and Winthrop each finished 7-7 in the League.  By virtue of the multiple team tie-breaker rules, the Bulldogs land the No. 5 seed.  The Eagles will be the No. 6 seed, while the Blue Hose will be the No. 7 seed.

Gardner-Webb receives the No. 8 seed with a Conference mark of 6-8.

The Bulldogs went 0-2 against the Flames this season, falling 3-0 in both matches. Asheville’s last victory against Liberty came at home in the Justice Center last season on Sept. 29, a 3-2 victory for the Blue & White.

The 2013 Big South Volleyball Championship presented by Musco Lighting begins Thursday, Nov. 21 with four quarterfinal matches and concludes with the Championship game on Sunday, Nov. 24.  The Big South’s Tournament champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Volleyball Championship.  The Quarterfinals and Semifinals will be video streamed live for FREE on the Big South Network presented by State Farm, while the Finals will be broadcast live on ESPN3 for the second consecutive year.  The Conference Championship schedule is as follows:
