CONWAY, S.C. – In their second Big South Conference road match in as many days the UNC Asheville volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision to Coastal Carolina at The HTC Center, falling 25-22, 25-22, 19-25, 25-18 on the campus of the Chanticleers.


With the victory the Chants improve to 13-9 overall, with a 6-3 mark in the Big South while the Bulldogs fall to 14-10 and 4-4 in league play.


Sophomore outside hitter Christine Lakatos led all players with 14 kills, with teammate Anna Moore adding 12 to the Bulldogs’ total. Rachel Wells led all players with 29 digs while Madison Vaughn recorded a career-best seven blocks in the match.


Setter Katie Davis recorded 36 assists in directing the Asheville attack while recording 22 digs defensively.


The Chanticleers had four players reach double digit kills, with Lian Bernett and Meghan Laffin posting 13 apiece. Lauren Alejo recorded 46 assists at the setter position with libero Lindsay Gill posting 20 digs for Coastal.


The Bulldogs will be back in action next Friday, Nov. 1, when they take on Big South foe High Point at 7 p.m. at Justice Center. Asheville will then host Campbell on Saturday at 4 p.m.
