CHARLESTON, S.C. - The UNC Asheville volleyball team picked up its fifth Big South Conference victory of the season on Saturday evening as the Bulldogs swept league foe Charleston Southern 3-0, winning 25-16, 25-19 and 25-11 at the CSU Fieldhouse.
Sophomore rightside hitter Anna Moore recorded a match-high 13 kills with Meredith Foster and Cindi Miller tallying 11 kills apiece. Libero Alex Stewart collected a match-high 18 digs and setter Hallie Morse collected 36 assists helping Asheville improve to 12-9 overall, with a 5-3 mark in the Big South.
Charleston Southern falls to 4-20 overall and 1-8 in conference.
The Buccaneers were led offensively by Wynter Davis who posted eight kills. Ashley Higginbothem tallied 12 digs and Amy Nokes posted 21 assists for CSU in the 3-0 defeat.
Asheville jumped out to an early 15-10 lead in the first set, before finishing the frame on a 10-6 run to go up 1-0 in the match. The second set saw the Bulldogs jump out to another early lead and eventually win 25-19 to take a 2-0 match lead into the break.
It would be all Asheville in the third set with the Blue & White exploding for a 25-11 set win and a 3-0 match victory.
The Bulldogs will be back in action next Friday evening when they host Big South foe Campbell. Game time is set for 7 p.m. at Justice Center.
