GREENSBORO, N.C. - The UNC Asheville volleyball team went 1-1 on the second day of the Spartan-Aggie Invitational hosted by UNCG and North Carolina A&T, falling to American 3-0 in their first match of the day before rebounding for a 3-0 victory over host NC A&T.


With the split the Bulldogs move to 4-8 on the season, while American improves to 4-3 and NC A&T drops to 0-11.


In the first match of the day American took the first set 25-22, before taking the second 25-12. The Bulldogs fell in the third set 25-18 to fall to 3-8 on the year.


Meredith Foster tallied a team-high seven kills in the match, with Christine Lakatos and Holly Shelton each posting five. Katie Davis recorded 17 assists and Alex Stewart added seven digs to the Bulldogs' total.


For American Juliana Crum tallied a match-high nine kills, while Kelly McCaddin and Sara Rishell added eight kills apiece. Setter Kylann Scheidt recorded 34 assists directing the American offense, with libero Allison Cappellino recording a match-high 19 digs.


Anna Moore tallied a match-high 11 kills against the Aggies in Asheville's second match of the day, with Shelton chipping in nine to the Bulldogs' total. Davis posted 24 assists against NC A&T, while Stewart earned 15 digs.


Asheville hit for a .302 average as a team, committing only eight attack errors against the Aggies en route to their fourth victory of the year.


The Aggies were led by Andrea Evans and Brooke Stamnes, who tallied six kills apiece. Stamnes also posted a team-high 12 digs in the match.
