Editors Note: With the 2013-24 school year behind us, UNC Asheville's student-athletes will be providing us write-ups to allow everyone to get to know them a little better. Today we meet volleyball player Catherine Fischer.
Catherine Fischer is a rising junior at UNC Asheville who is a member of the Volleyball Team. Anticipating graduating in 2016, “Cat” is studying Pre-Med with a minor in Neuroscience, aspiring to one day go into neurosurgery. In addition to excelling in the classroom, she also spends her free time coaching at a local volleyball club.
Also known as “Kitty Cat”, “Cadillac”, “Fish-Sauce”, “Cat-Daddy”, and “Cat-Man-Doo”, she is the newly elected Student-Athlete Advisory Committee’s treasurer. As a member of SAAC, Cat is hoping to “support and promote the entire athletic department, because we should be doing more to bring in members of the society to be Bulldogs.” She wants SAAC to raise more money next year, as well as start the UNC Asheville Athletics Olympics, where each team would face other UNC Asheville sports teams in neutral sports. Her fondest SAAC memory was winning Homecoming in 2013 and 2014.
Cat chose to come to UNC Asheville for many reasons, mainly because of her dream to play collegiate volleyball. She grew up visiting the Asheville area, so coming to school here just made sense to her. This summer, she will be interning at Mission Health, while taking classes and playing beach volleyball.
Cat is a vital part of the UNC Asheville Athletics family. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to watch Catherine “Cat” Fischer play volleyball for the Bulldogs this upcoming fall at the Justice Center!
