BURLINGTON, VT. - Former UNC Asheville pitcher Ryan Dull didn't have to wait long to be promoted in the Oakland A's organization. He was moved up late last week to the Vermont Lake Monsters of the New York Penn League.

After being selected in the 32nd round last month, Dull pitched for Oakland's Arizona team in the Arizona Rookie league. Ryan pitched in four games in Arizona with a 1.42 ERA and 13 strikeouts in 6.1 innings of work.

The Winston-Salem native was able to get a win in his first outing with the Lake Monsters on Friday night. He entered the game against Hudson Valley in the top of the fifth inning and pitched 2.1 innings of scoreless relief. Dull faced eight hitters, allowed one hit and had four strikeouts.

In 8.2 innings of professional baseball, he has collected 17 strikeouts against just three walks. He's allowed just one run and four hits.

"I had a good feeling that Ryan would have a chance to move up quickly with the way he pitches," commented Bulldog head coach Tom Smith. "We're really proud of him and hope he keeps it up."
