ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville baseball team starts a two-game road trip at Georgia State on Tuesday as the Bulldogs battle the Panthers of the Colonial Athletic Association.  The two-game series will be Tuesday and Wednesday starting with each game starting at 3 p.m.

Asheville (4-7) is coming off a tough weekend in Charleston as the Bulldogs competed in the 2013 Charleston Crab House Shootout host by The Citadel. The Blue & White went 1-3 during the tournament as they picked up a win over Pittsburgh of the Big East, 5-4 in 10 innings on Saturday. Asheville fell to VCU on Friday 12-1 and then dropped a double-header to The Citadel, 7-5 and 5-3 on Sunday.

"We played some good competition this weekend," commented Bulldog coach Tom Smith. "We did a nice job winning the Pitt game but would have liked to have won one or both of the games against The Citadel.  Our guys just need to keep plugging away."

Asheville faces a Georgia State club that is 7-5 on the season and is coming off wins over Georgia and Boston College this past weekend. The Panthers leads the all-time series, 9-4 and have won the last seven meetings between the teams. Georgia State downed the Bulldogs, 13-8 last year at Greenwood Field.

Infielder Kyle Towles leads Asheville hitting so far this year with a .389 average. Senior catcher Ian Graham has had a hit in eight of the last nine games and is hitting .367. Robert McIntosh has a .349 average. He tops the club in RBI's (10), home runs (2) and doubles (5).

Georgia State assistant coach Willie Stewart played for the Bulldogs from 1996-2000 and was Asheville's head coach from 2005-09.

The Bulldogs return home this weekend as they'll welcome Temple to Greenwood Field for the first time. The three-game series will start Friday at 3 p.m.
