ATLANTA, Ga. – In the final game of a two-game series Georgia State earned a season sweep of UNC Asheville on Wednesday afternoon, taking home a 13-5 victory over the visiting Bulldogs in baseball action at the GSU Baseball Complex.

“I’m a little disappointed with how we played today,” said Asheville skipper Tom Smith. “We try to get better every day, we just went a little backwards this time out. We’re struggling a bit right now and we’ve got to find a way to get out of it.”

Freshman infielder Justin Woods drove in two runs for the Bulldogs, while Hunter Bryant and Kyle Towles collected two hits apiece. With the setback Asheville drops to 4-9 on the season.

Shortstop Chad Prain went 2-for-5 offensively for the Panthers, with three RBI in the contest. Caden Bailey was 1-for-2, with three RBI and two runs scored. GSU improves to 9-5 with the victory.

Freshman hurler Zack Wiseman (0-1) was credited with the loss for the Bulldogs, giving up six runs (four earned) on three hits in 2.2 innings.

Georgia State’s starter Nick Squeglia (2-0) earned the victory, tossing five innings and allowing four runs on six hits. Squeglia struck out five Bulldogs and walked three.

The Bulldogs will be back home at Greenwood Field this weekend, as they host Temple in a three-game series. First pitch on Friday is set for 3 p.m., while Saturday’s game is slated to start at 2 p.m. and Sunday’s is scheduled for 1 p.m.
