JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – The Bulldogs gave up four runs in the first inning before eventually giving up nine as the UNC Asheville baseball team dropped its eighth consecutive game, falling to ETSU on Monday afternoon 9-5 at Cardinal Park in non-conference action.

The Bulldogs fall to 15-29 overall while ETSU improves to 31-16 on the year. The Bucs also complete the season sweep of the Blue & White, having already earned a 13-5 victory at Greenwood Field on March 2.

Offensively the Bulldogs were led by Patrick Koontz and Eli Miller. Koontz went 2-for-2 at the plate with two runs scored and a run batted in while Miller was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Brian Connolly got the starting nod and struggled out of the gate, allowing six runs on 10 hits in two and two-thirds innings to fall to 1-1 on the year.

Lee Hall picked up the win for the Bucs, pitching five shutout innings. Hall allowed only two hits while striking out two and walking two. Paul Hoilman and Kerry Doane each had two hits and two RBI while Derek Trent went 3-for-4 at the plate to add to ETSU’s 15 hits on the day.

The Bulldogs will hit the road for their next game as they will hit the road to face UNC Chapel Hill on Wednesday evening. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. between Asheville and the Tar Heels.
