HIGH POINT, N.C. - Welcome to the 2012 Big South Conference Baseball Championship at High Point University. Matt Pellegrin will be tweeting and Mike Gore will be doing a blog throughout today's first-round game with Liberty. First pitch is scheduled about 4:45 p.m. The Bulldogs are the sixth seeded, while the Flames are the third seed.

Bulldogs get a hit in the top of the first off Liberty ace John Niggli. Billy Creighton had singled sharply to left. Asheville hit some balls hard but right at the Flames.
Liberty gets a one-out double that first-baseman Hunter Bryant just misses making a great stop on. But Dean Roland gets the next Liberty hitters out, the last one is a hard-hit ball by Michael Robertson but third baseman Cody Buch makes a good stop to retire the side.
In the top of the second, Cody Buch gets a lead-off single. With one out, Ian Graham hits a ball to deep short that Liberty shortstop Zach Haley makes a great play on to turn a double-play on. 0-0 heading to the bottom of the second.
An error and three Liberty hits lead to two Flame runs in the bottom of the second inning. A double-play ball keeps the early Liberty lead at 2-0.
Bulldogs go in order in the third inning. Trail 2-0.
Alex Close hits a two-run homer in the bottom of the third inning. It's his 13th of the season as Liberty leads 4-0.
Liberty pitcher John Niggli is in a groove right now as he's retired seven straight Bulldog hitters. Flames in front 4-0 going to the bottom of the fourth inning
Liberty gets one more run in the fourth with three hits, including a bunt single to make it 5-0.
Ian Graham hits a two-out double for Asheville's third hit of the game but the rally stops there. We're halfway through and Liberty leads 5-0 entering the bottom of the fifth.
Roland gets Liberty out in order to keep the score at 5-0 in favor of the Flames.
Bulldogs get a lead-off single from Eli Miller and a two-out walk to Billy Creighton as Asheville gets runners on first and third. Patrick Koontz flies out to center to end the Dogs best scoring threat. LU leads 5-0 entering the bottom of the sixth inning.
Taylor Krugh relieves Dean Roland in the sixth inning.
Krugh allows a hit and walk but gets three pop-outs to keep the Flames from scoring. Liberty leads 5-0 entering the top of the seventh inning.
Bulldogs are on the board with a great two-out rally. Ian Graham hits his second double of the game, followed by a walk to Hunter Bryant who battled back from a 0-2 hole in the count. Eli Miller singled to left to score Graham and cut the lead to 5-1. Niggli gets a strikeout to end the inning.
Liberty has three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. A tough call at second hurts the Dogs and a bloop hit contributes to the LU cause. Flames lead 8-1 with Ethan Steible in for Krugh.
Seventh Inning finally over as Liberty scores four times to lead 9-1.
Bulldogs don't score in the eighth and still trail 9-1.
