ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville baseball team will be on regional television Tuesday night when the Bulldogs play at defending national champion South Carolina starting at 7 p.m. The game will be televised thoughout the Southeast region on SportsSouth.
This will be the Bulldogs first appearance on television since an ESPNU appearance in the 2008 season at Coastal Carolina. Asheville (15-33) will be trying to snap a frustrating 12-game losing streak when it takes on the Gamecoks. The Bulldogs were swept at VMI this past weekend but last week only lost at #9 North Carolina, 4-2, Wednesday night.
"This is a great opportunity for our program," stated Bulldog coach Tom Smith. "It's a real honor to play the defending national champions and it's even more exciting to play them on television. We're going to do our best to play well Tuesday night."
This will be the fifth meeting ever between the programs with USC holding a 4-0 advantage in the series.
