TULSA, Okla. - Former UNC Asheville pitcher Alan DeRatt has been promoted by the Colorado Rockies.
DeRatt was sent from Modesto, the Rockies High A franchise to Colorado's Double A franchise, Tulsa on June 12. The Drillers compete in the Texas League.
The Cary native had pitched well for Modesto this year as he has posted a 3-2 record with a 4.87 ERA as a middle reliever. DeRatt had 35 strikeouts in 40.2 innings of work during 16 appearances.
The 2008 Big South Conference Pitcher of the Year made his Tulsa debut on June 12th and made an emergency start for the Drillers. He pitched four innings and did not allow a run, scattering two hits and walking two at Northwest Arkansas.
DeRatt made his home debut on Saturday against Arkansas in relief. He pitched one scoreless and hitless inning.
He joins former teammate Kevin Mattison in Double A this year. Mattison is enjoying an excellent season for the Jacksonville Suns of the Southern League.
