Dull went 5-4 during the regular season and finished with a 3.12 ERA. He won his last four decisions. The Winston-Salem native is second in the Big South in strikeouts with 80 and 10th in ERA. He has really pitched well in the final half of the season as he has posted four wins and three no-decisions in his last seven starts. Dull struck out a career-high 11 in a 2-0 victory over Liberty on April 21. He was ranked 10th nationally last week in strikeouts-to-walks with a 7.00 mark.
The award marks the second time Dull has been honored as he earned second team honors as a sophomore.
“I’m really happy for Ryan Dull to be honored by the Big South Conference coaches like this,” commented Bulldog coach Tom Smith. “He did a great job for us this year, especially in the second half of the year. Ryan is a hard-worker who has done everything he can to help our program improve this season.”
Dull is scheduled to pitch on Wednesday in Asheville’s second Big South Tournament game against either High Point or Campbell.
In addition, senior third baseman Cody Buch earned a spot on the Big South All-Academic Team for the second straight year. He is the Bulldogs second leading hitter with a .308 average. He has played in a team-high 52 games and is second in hits with 52.
