Former UNC Asheville pitcher Ryan Dull finished seventh nationally in the final NCAA statistics for strikeouts-to-walks ratio for the 2012 season. Dull's 6.46 per game mark placed him first in the Big South Conference and set a new school record.
The Winston-Salem native struck out 84 hitters and walked just 13 this season. He went 5-5 on the mound and helped lead the Bulldogs to a tie for fourth place in the Big South Conference standings. It was Asheville's highest league finish in nine seasons.
He was drafted in the 32nd round by the Oakland A's last month and is pitching for Oakland's Arizona League squad. Dull is off to a great start with a 2-0 record in four appearances. He also has one save and has struck out 13 in 6.1 innings of work.
