ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville baseball team finished its fall season this weekend with the final games of its World Series.

The Blue team entered the weekend with a 2-0 lead in the best of five series.

On Friday, the Black team stayed alive with a dramatic victory. They scored seven runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to record a 13-12 walk-off victory. The Black team was led by Tommy Houmard who went 4-for-5 with a double, triple and three runs scored. He was a home run short of hitting for the cycle. Eli Miller continued his good work in the fall with three hits and two runs scored.

On Saturday, the Blue team finally clinched the series with a 6-5 victory. Phillip Treadway led the Blue team on offense with four hits, a double, stolen base and three runs scored. Billy Creighton added three hits and scored twice.  Kyle Towles, Billy Creighton, Lucas Clarke, and Mitch Carstens all chipped in two hits each.

The Black squad got a great start from Zack Wiseman who pitched the first five innings and allowed just one run. Eli Miller added two hits.

"All the games in the Fall World Series were competitive and exciting," commented Bulldog coach Tom Smith. "We got a lot of great work done in the fall. It's obvious that everyone worked hard in the summer and came back in shape and ready to go. I believe the 2013 season is going to be a lot of fun, and we're already looking forward to the spring."
