The Bulldogs opened the season with a 7-4 win at UNC Greensboro but fell in a three-game series vs. Western Kentucky and lost at ETSU on Tuesday, 11-6. In two of those losses, Asheville led late but just couldn’t finish the game.

“We’ve played some good teams early in the year and had chances to win a few more games but didn’t close the game out,” commented Bulldog coach Tom Smith.”Our guys have got to learn how to do that and just find ways to win. We’re close to getting it done.

“I’m glad we’ll get a chance to play at home,” added Smith. “Eastern Kentucky traditionally has a solid program and will be a big test for us this weekend.”

Chancellor Anne Ponder will throw out the first pitch on Friday prior to the home opener.
