BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Heath Bowers struck out a career-high 13 to lead Campbell in a 7-1 win over UNC Asheville Friday night at Jim Perry Stadium in Big South Conference action.


Campbell moved to 23-12 overall and 9-4 in Big South games with the win, while Asheville dips to 11-24 on the year and 4-9 in conference play.


Ethan Steible (0-4) took the loss for Asheville, allowing seven runs, six earned, on six hits with a strikeout. Adam Spracklin pitched 2 2/3, walking three and striking out two in relief.


Robert McIntosh drove in the Bulldogs' only run on the night in the top of the eighth with two outs, singling to left to bring home Kyle Towles.


McIntosh raised his hitting streak to eight games with his single.


Seven different Camels knocked in the team's seven runs in the win, with Elijah Trail and Seth LaRue plating runs in the first.


Campbell added tallies in the third and fourth on a Matt Nadolski RBI groundout and a Will Albertson sacrifice fly to make it 4-0 Camels.


In the sixth, CU added three more runs, with the first coming on Matt Parrish's RBI double. John Reilly added another on a sacrifice fly, and Steven Leonard drew a bases-loaded walk to score Sam Rector for the team's seventh run.


The Camels and Bulldogs will continue the three-game series Saturday at 1 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.
