ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville baseball team is home this afternoon at 5 p.m. when the Bulldogs host USC Upstate in a make-up game from last week.


The teams were scheduled to play last Tuesday (April 15) but rain in the Asheville area forced a postponement until today.


Asheville (11-28) looks to snap a six-game losing streak. The Bulldogs dropped a pair of BSC home game this weekend to Charleston Southern as they fell 9-1 on Thursday and 6-3 on Friday. Saturday’s game was cancelled due to rain.


The Spartans are 14-27 on the season after losing two games at Atlantic Sun foe Kennesaw State over the weekend.  Asheville is looking for a season-sweep over USC Upstate today as the Bulldogs posted a 2-1 victory back on March 25 in Spartanburg.


Freshman outfielder Tanner Bush leads Asheville in hitting with a .355 average. Bush and Eli Miller will bring an 11-game streak of reaching base today.


The Bulldogs are home on Tuesday when they host Furman at 6 p.m. Asheville starts a five-game road swing on Friday when the Dogs travel to Big South-leader and 30th-ranked Liberty. Tom Smith’s club does not return home until May 9 when the Dogs host Radford in a three-game series.
