DAVIDSON, N.C. – The UNC Asheville baseball team is back on the road this evening when the Bulldogs face the Davidson Wildcats at Wilson Field with first pitch at 6 p.m.

The Bulldogs (13-32) look for their second straight win tonight after stunning Tennessee on the road last night, 7-5. Asheville broke a 5-5 tie with two runs in the top of the seventh inning and made that hold up as the Dogs dealt Tennessee’s NCAA tournament hopes a severe blow. It was the Blue & White’s sixth victory over the Volunteers but first since the 2006 season.

Asheville looks to sweep a season series against Davidson (27-14) for the first time in program history. The Bulldogs edged the Wildcats back on April 8th at Greenwood Field, 12-10.  Davidson leads the all-time series with the Dogs, 22-8.

The Bulldogs return home this weekend for a Big South Conference series with Radford. Asheville hosts the Highlanders in a three-game set starting Friday at 6 p.m., Saturday at 5 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m.

Saturday’s game will be Senior Day as the school will honor its eight seniors playing their final series at Greenwood Field. The eight seniors are Brian Connolly, Robert McIntosh, Eli Miller, Scott Robinson, Dean Roland, Ethan Steible, Phillip Treadway and Sam Turner.

Freshman outfielder Tanner Bush continues to lead the Bulldogs in hitting with a .324 average. Senior outfielder Phillip Treadway, who had three hits and three RBI's at Tennessee, has a .292 average with a team-high 22 runs batted in.
