HOLLY SPRINGS, N.C. – UNC Asheville first baseman Hunter Bryant is one of 24 Coastal Plain League players who will take on the USA Collegiate National squad on Sunday in Cary, N.C. 


Bryant has been the top hitter for the Forest City Owls this summer. He leads the team in batting average (.324), home runs (4), RBIs (11) and total bases (38). The Owls are 10-9 on the year.


The first-ever CPL Select Team, set to take on the USA Collegiate National Team on Sunday, June 22 at 5 p.m. at the USA Baseball Training Complex in Cary.


A committee comprised of league coaches, league officials and Major League scouts selected the team.


Bryant, a rising senior for the Bulldogs, has been Asheville’s starting first baseman for the past three seasons. This past year he hit .273 and tied for the team lead in RBIs with 26.
