CARY, N.C. – UNC Asheville senior first baseman Hunter Bryant was the starting designated hitter and batter fourth when the Coastal Plain League’s Select team took on the USA Collegiate National Team Sunday evening.
Bryant went 1-for-2 with a run-scoring double and an RBI. His double in the first inning gave the CPL an early 1-0 lead. The USA team would go to win the game, 4-2.
Bryant faced Oregon State standout Andrew Moore in his plate appearances. Moore helped lead the Beavers to a #1 national seed this past year in the NCAA Tournament.
The former Erwin HS standout has done a great job for the Forest City Owls in the CPL this year. Forest City is 14-9 on the year and in third place in its division. Bryant leads the team in batting average (.333), home runs (5) and RBIs (15).
