Overview: One of the best two-way players in the Big South...can play either at first or third base and can also start or be a reliever...excellent power hitter and hits for average, as well...should compete for all-conference honors in 2010...one of three seniors on this year's roster...made the Big South All-Academic team for baseball last spring...last name is pronounced Shoe-mer.

2009: Third leading hitter on team with .277 average...led club in RBI with 31 and third in home runs with five...hit two home runs and drove in five runs at Charleston Southern (3-7)...had at least one hit in 11 of the first 12 games of the season...led team in doubles with 13...had 12-game hitting streak midway through the season...drove in four runs at ETSU (3-24)...went 3-for-6 with three RBI vs. High Point (3-29)...posted three hits and drove in four runs vs. Radford (4-4)...had two hits and two RBI in road win at Liberty (4-11)...had incredible league series at Charleston Southern (3-6 & 7) as he went 7-for-12 with four home runs, nine RBI and six runs scored...made 10 starts on the mound...top performance was one-hitter in win vs. Furman (4-9)...went six innings and allowed just one hit with four strikeouts in 4-1 win...earned save vs. Central Michigan (2-28) with 1.1 innings of work in 7-4 win...retired all four hitters on strikeouts...struck out a season-high nine hitters at Wofford (2-22)...second on team in strikeouts with 49.  

2008: Stared and played in 58 of Asheville’s 59 games...enjoyed a great season at the bat...second on the team in hitting with .326 average...led team in RBI with 50 and was third in home runs with nine...went 4-for-4 with game-winning home run at McCormick Field against Gardner-Webb (4-22) in bottom of the 12th inning...was also the winning pitcher in the game...third on team in doubles with 13...went 4-for-5 with run-scoring double in Greenwood Field victory over Charleston Southern (5-11)...had four hits and three RBI plus triple in road win at Furman (4-16)...opened the year in grand style at Presbyterian when he went 3-for-5 with four RBI and home run (2-23)...had at least three hits in 11 different games...ended the season strong at the plate with hits in 12 of his last 14 games as he raised his average more than 30 points during that time...scored four runs and had three hits in league win at Radford (4-27)...hit grand-slam home run at Coastal Carolina (4-19)...had a hard-luck year on the mound with 1-7 record but still recorded eight saves...picked up save in third game of the season at Presbyterian (2-24) with two innings of scoreless relief...earned a save four different times by pitching at least two innings...struck out 37 inn 44.1 innings of work...made three starts.

2007: Hit .356 in with 21 hits and 59 at bats as a freshman...started 15 games at third base...went 3-for-5 with a home run, three runs scored, and two RBI in Big South semifinal against Liberty...went 3-for-3 with a RBI against Appalachian State...went 6-for-16 in Big South Tournament with five RBI...five multi-hit games...on the mound, had seven relief appearances with a 4.70 ERA...recorded three strikeouts in 1.1 innings at New Orleans...posted saves at Campbell and against Samford...had six strikeouts in 7.2 innings on the season.

Before UNC Asheville: East Mecklenburg’s Male Spring Athlete of the Year and was a Wendy’s High School Heisman nominee...earned All-Mecklenburg County honors as a senior...as a junior earned All-State, All Charlotte Observer and ncpreps.com honors...also played in the Region 6 State Games...senior year on the mound, tossed 46.1 innings with 62 strikeouts and posted a 2.72 ERA.
