Overview: Has been a key player for the Bulldogs his entire career...versatile player who can play in both the infield and outfield...played most of freshman season at first base but also played third base and in the outfield...sophomore year played in right field for most of the season...played center field for most of his junior campaign...last name is pronounced Bates.

2010: One of only two players to start and play in all 52 games for the Bulldogs...finished the year with a .300 batting average...third on team in home runs with four and second in RBI (32)...led team in stolen bases with eight...was especially productive down the stretch as he finished the year with an eight-game hitting streak...went 11-for-31 (.354) from the plate in those eight games and helped Asheville reach the Big South Tournament....went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and double vs. Charleston Southern (5-16).
