CONWAY, S.C. - Kierre Greenwood's 10-footer with 5.9 seconds left gave Coastal Carolina a 65-64 Big South Conference win over UNC Asheville Tuesday night at the HTC Center.

The Bulldogs (15-13, 9-5 BSC) played without second leading scorer Keith Hornsby who injured his shoulder in practice on Monday.

Asheville was led by Jeremy Atkinson with 18 points. Corey Littlejohn, starting in place of Hornsby, added a season-high 12 points. Freshman Sam Hughes came off the bench to score 11 points on perfect 4-of-4 shooting. He also knocked down three 3-pointers.

Anthony Raffa led Coastal Carolina (13-12, 8-6 BSC) with 22 points.

"We played hard and battled but turned the ball over 22 times and that was the difference in the game," stated Asheville coach Eddie Biedenbach. "Most of those turnovers were unforced and really hurt us.

"I was proud of our effort and had some guys really step up and play well," added Biedenbach. "Corey Littlejohn played 37 minutes, and he's never done that since he's been with us."

The lead changes hand three times in the final minute of play. Atkinson hit two free throws to put Asheville in front 62-61 with one minute left. Raffa hit two free throws to give CCU the lead at 63-62 at the 36-second mark.

The Bulldogs took the lead with 16 seconds remaining when Trent Meyer fed D.J. Cunningham who dunked to give Asheville the lead.

After a Coastal Carolina timeout, the Chants got the ball to Greenwood who drove just inside the foul-line and knocked down the 10-footer for the lead.

Asheville raced down the court, but Meyer's three-pointer missed as the buzzer sounded giving CCU the win.

The Bulldogs are home on Saturday at 4:30 against Jacksonville State in the BracketBuster.
