Freshman guard Andrew Rowsey is this week’s recipient of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina Athlete of the Week at UNC Asheville.

Each week the school selects a BCBSNC Athlete of the Week upon their performance from the previous week's action.

In addition, Rowsey was named Big South Freshman of the Week for the third time this year and second time in the last three weeks.

Rowsey averaged 25.0 points in two games, which included a career-high 35 points in Asheville’s 80-76 win at Charleston Southern on Saturday.  It was the second-most points scored by a Bulldog in the program’s Division I era, and he tallied 16 points in the final nine minutes of the game to lead Asheville back from an 11-point deficit.  Rowsey opened his week with 15 points at Coastal Carolina, and concluded the two games with a 46.9 field goal percentage (15-of-32), 45.0 clip from three-point range (9-of-20) and 78.6 percent from the free throw line (11-of-14).

The Bulldogs are back in action this Wednesday night when Asheville hosts Big South Southern Division rival Winthrop starting at 7 p.m.
