HIGH POINT, N.C. – The UNC Asheville men’s basketball team had three players earn spots on the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association University Division All-State Teams.


Freshman guard Andrew Rowsey made the first team, while senior center D.J. Cunningham and senior forward Jaron Lane were named to the second team.


Rowsey averaged a Big South-leading 20.3 points per game in his first year as a Bulldog. He was named Big South Freshman of the Year and also earned first-team All-Big South honors. Rowsey set a UNC Asheville single-season record with 106 threes this past season. The Lexington, Va. native was named Big South Freshman of the Week five times during the year and set a Dedmon Center scoring record with 41 points in a game on Feb. 13.


Cunningham was a second team All-Conference performer in the Big South this season. He was Asheville’s third leading scorer (11.6) and led the league in rebounding (9.9) and blocked shots (3.6). Cunningham blocked 98 shots this season, setting a single-season school record at Asheville. The Waterford, Ohio native earned a spot on the Big South All-Tournament as tied a tournament record with 19 rebounds against Radford in the quarterfinals.


Lane was also a second team All-Conference performer in the Big South this year. He ended the season as the Bulldogs second leading scorer with a 16.5 average and second leading rebounder with a 5.5 mark. The Greenville, N.C. native finished the season by scoring 22 points or more in the last six games of the year. Lane tied a career-high in points with 29 in Asheville’s 98-87 Big South quarterfinal victory over Radford.
