ASHEVILLE, N.C. - There will be a "Welcome Back Celebration" for the UNC Asheville Bulldogs men's basketball team Friday afternoon at the Rocky Statue outside Justice Center at 11:45 a.m. All Bulldog fans and friends are encouraged to attend as the team will be returning from Washington, D.C.

The Big South Conference champion Bulldogs ended their heroic season Thursday afternoon when Asheville lost to top-seeded Pittsburgh, 74-51 at the Verizon Center in the NCAA Tournament's second round. Asheville, seeded 16th in the Southeast Region, battled the third-ranked Panthers hard and only trailed by three early in the second half before Pitt pulled away for the win.

Asheville finished the season with a 20-14 overall record. The Bulldogs went 1-1 in the NCAA Tournament with an 81-77 overtime victory over Arkansas-Little Rock on Tuesday in the "First Four" at Dayton Arena.

Asheville is scheduled to fly out of Dulles Airport at 9 a.m.
