ASHEVILLE, N.C. - UNC Asheville senior forward John Williams will play with Crossfire on Saturday night when they take on the ACC All-Stars. The game will be played at Reynolds HS starting at 6 p.m.
Williams helped lead the Bulldogs to the 2011 Big South Conference championship and earned a spot on the Big South All-Tournament team. Two weeks ago, he participated in the Denny's Slam-Dunk contest in Houston and finished runner-up, despite making all four of his dunks and being the only contestant not to miss a dunk. The Raleigh native is the school's all-time leader in blocked shots with 255.
Williams will play with Crossfire, a Christian-based team that is led by former Bulldog guard Randy Shepherd, who played for UNC Asheville in the mid-80's.
Some of the ACC All-Stars scheduled to appear are Kyle Singler and Nolan Smith from Duke, Justin Knox from North Carolina and Javier Gonzalez and Tracy Smith of N.C. State.
Tickets are available at the following locations: Showtime Sports & Trophies, Arsenal Athletics in the Asheville Mall, Biltmore Baptist Bookstore and Leicester Carpet of Asheville. Tickets are $10 each.
