First Basketball Home Games to be Televised by WMYA

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville men's and women's basketball teams will open their respective seasons next weekend with both home games against mountain rival Western Carolina to be televised regionally by WMYA (Channel 40).


Coach Eddie Biedenbach's two-time defending Big South Conference men's champions tip off their 2012-13 campaign on Friday, Nov. 9, with a 7 p.m. contest against the Catamounts at Kimmel Arena.


The women's team makes its debut under Coach Brenda Mock Kirkpatrick on Saturday, Nov. 10, at 4:30 p.m. against WCU's Lady Cats at Kimmel. That game will be preceded at 2 p.m. by the opener of the Asheville Collegiate Invitational, which matches Charleston Southern of the Big South against UNC Greensboro of the Southern Conference.
