ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville placed four players in doubles figures en route to an 86-45 exhibition game win over visiting Brevard College Monday night at Kimmel Arena.


The Bulldogs led the whole way and used a huge height advantage to dominate the Division II Tornados.


Asheville was led by freshman guard Andrew Rowsey with 17 points. Corey Littlejohn added 16 points and seven rebounds. Seniors’ Jaron Lane and D.J. Cunningham added 10 points each.


The Bulldogs had four players in double figures, while starting forward Will Weeks scored only two points but had 10 rebounds and eight assists in the exhibition victory.


Asheville out-rebounded Brevard, 54-27 and had outscored the Tornados 50-25 in the paint.


Brevard played the game short-handed as two starters did not play. The Tornados were led by Dominique Pickett with 13 points and six rebounds. Darius Moose added 10 points and four assists.


Asheville had a good floor game with just five turnovers. Cunningham blocked four shots and had two steals.


The Bulldogs took control early in the game. Asheville scored nine straight points as all five starters scored in the first five minutes of the contest to give the home team an early 11-3 lead.


Leading 16-11 midway through the opening half, the Bulldogs scored the next 17 points to race to a 33-11 lead. Littlejohn led the run with all eight of his first-half points. He knocked down a three-pointer, scored on a three-play and hit two foul shots. Rowsey ended the run by scoring on a four-point play by knocking down a long three-pointer and getting fouled on the play.


Asheville began to empty its bench late in the half and cruised to a 43-17 halftime lead.


The Bulldogs substituted liberally in the second half and led by as much as 44 points before settling for the 41-point win.


UNC Asheville opens the 2013-14 season at top-ranked Kentucky this Friday night at Rupp Arena starting at 7 p.m.
