Former Bulldog center D.J. Cunningham will continue his basketball career this fall in Belgium.


Cunningham signed a deal with Limburg United recently along with three other players. Limburg competes in the Ethias League, which is Belgium’s highest division of pro basketball.


Limburg United plays in the city of Hasselt, Belgium. It is located in the eastern part of the country and has a population of 75,000 people.


Cunningham completed his career as the school’s all-time leader in blocked shots with 281. He finished with 819 career rebounds, fourth best in school history and as the Division I leader at Asheville. Cunningham became the 30th player in school history to reach 1,000 career points and he completed his Bulldog career with exactly 1,000 points.


Cunningham was a second team All-Conference performer in the Big South this season. He was Asheville’s third leading scorer (11.6) and led the league in rebounding (9.9) and blocked shots (3.6). Cunningham blocked 98 shots this season, setting a single-season school record at Asheville. The Waterford, Ohio native earned a spot on the Big South All-Tournament as tied a tournament record with 19 rebounds against Radford in the quarterfinals.
