CHARLOTTE, N.C. - UNC Asheville rookie guard Tianna Knuckles was named Big South Freshman of the Week for her play last week.

Knuckles, a guard from Wendell, N.C., averaged 16 points per game and connected on 48 percent from the floor in UNC Asheville’s two games last week.  She got her week started with 15 points, eight rebounds and one helper against North Carolina A&T on Dec. 17.  She followed that effort with 17 points, five boards and two assists against Vanderbilt on Dec. 21.  The guard connected on 54 percent of her tries from the field against the Commodores.  The honor is her first Big South Freshman of the Week nod this season.

Knuckles and the Bulldogs return to action this Saturday afternoon when they host Gardner-Webb at Kimmel Arena starting at 2 p.m. The game will be televised locally by WMYA-TV (MY-40).
