ASHEVILLE, N.C.   - The Charleston Southern women's basketball team set a new Big South Conference record for made 3-pointers in a game on Saturday afternoon against UNC Asheville, as the Buccaneers converted 18 treys en route to a 98-79 victory over the Bulldogs at the Justice Center.

CSU (11-13, 5-6 BSC) shot 58.3 percent for the game including with Kelsey Wasmer leading the way with 23 points. Wasmer hit 7-of-10 three-point attempts, going 4-for-5 in the first half alone. Lakeitha Alston scored 21 for the Bucs while Katie Tull added 14 and Kiki Rutledge added 12.

Asheville (10-15, 3-9) could not find an answer for the CSU offense as the Bulldogs gave up the second most points allowed against them this season. The Blue & White gave up 99 to Appalachian State on Dec. 2.

Lindsey Montgomery and Kelli Riles each recorded double-doubles, with Montgomery going for 20 points and 10 boards and Riles going for 11 and a game-high 12 rebounds. Lindsey Thompson scored 17 for the Bulldogs and Kendall Shepard finished the game with 12 points and needs just three more to reach 1,000 for her career.

In the first half the Bucs could do no wrong as they jumped out to a 34-23 lead with 10:05 remaining in the frame. They would extend their lead by as many as 21 before taking a 58-39 lead into halftime.

The second half saw the Bucs run out to 29 point advantage at 77-48 with 13:36 to go, with Alston scoring 16 of her 21 points in the final frame. Asheville could never get closer than 19 points and would eventually lose by that margin.

The game marks the fourth consecutive loss by the Bulldogs, who are also 0-7 in conference games at the Justice Center. With the win Charleston Southern sweeps the season series with Asheville, having earned an 85-74 victory over the Bulldogs on Jan. 17.

Asheville will be back at home on Monday evening for the Bulldogs final home game of the season. The Chanticleers of Coastal Carolina will pay a visit to the Justice Center as the Bulldogs will be celebrating senior night. Montgomery and Shepard, alongside fellow seniors Chioma Okoli and Dana Wagner will be honored before the game for their efforts while wearing the Blue & White. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
