BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. - Gardner-Webb forced 22 turnovers by UNC Asheville on Thursday evening, en route to a 73-47 victory over the Bulldogs at Paul Porter Arena in Big South Conference women's basketball action.

"We didn't take care of the ball from the onset of the game," said UNC Asheville head coach Brenda Mock Kirkpatrick. "Going into this we knew that Gardner-Webb was one of the better pressuring teams in the conference, as well as one of the better rebounding teams in the conference. They set the tone early and we didn't box out, giving them second chance shots."

GWU out-rebounded the Blue & White 41-24 in the game, as the Runnin' Bulldogs improved to 10-11 overall with a 3-7 mark in conference play. Asheville has now dropped 12 contests in a row, falling to 2-19 on the year and 0-10 in the Big South.

Senior forward Kelli Riles led the Bulldogs in scoring with 13 points, while freshman Paige Love added 11 to the Bulldogs' total. Riles also led the team in rebounding with seven boards, improving to 972 rebounds for her career.

Jasmine Dale scored a game-best 14 points for GWU, with Catrina Green adding 13 and Jessica Heilig adding 10. Green recorded a double-double in the contest, pulling down a team-high 14 boards.

The Bulldogs struggled early against the high-pressure defense of GWU, committing 12 turnovers in the opening frame. Asheville shot 9-of-24 field goals, but finished the half on an up note, as Grace Blaylock stole a cross court pass and hit a fast break layup as time expired.

The Runnin' Bulldogs connected on 13-of-34 shots, including four 3-pointers in the first half. GWU also out-rebounded Asheville 23-15 in the opening frame.

GWU led 34-22 heading into the break.

The second half was more of the same for GWU, as they started the half on a 12-4 run. The Bulldogs were able to cut the Runnin' Bulldogs' lead to 11 at 48-37 with 11:16 to go in the game, but GWU would finish the final 10 minutes of the contest on a 25-10 run.

The Bulldogs finish their four-game road trip on Saturday afternoon, when they square off against Big South foe Presbyterian College at 2 p.m. The two teams met on Jan. 17, with PC earning a 56-49 victory at the Kimmel Arena on the campus of the Bulldogs.
