RADFORD, Va. –  The UNC Asheville women’s basketball team will look to pick up its second consecutive Big South Conference victory and its third in their last four games when the Bulldogs play at Radford on Saturday afternoon at the Dedmon Center.


The game will be broadcast locally on WPEK Radio (880-AM) with the pre-game show starting at 1:55 p.m. The game can also be seen live via internet video stream on the Big South Network at BigSouthSports.com.


UNC Asheville (6-9, 2-3 BSC) is now 2-1 on the road in league play. The Bulldogs picked up their first win ever at Longwood on Thursday evening, earning a 69-65 victory over the Lancers. Sophomore Paige Love scored a career-high 22 points including a go-ahead 3-pointer with just over 10 seconds remaining in the game.


With the victory the Blue & White snapped a four-game losing skid to the Lancers, improving to 2-4 lifetime against Longwood.


Radford (2-14, 0-7 BSC) is coming off of a 68-56 setback to Winthrop on Thursday evening. The Eagles started the second half on a 17-2 run en route to the 12-point victory. Rachael Ross led the Highlanders in scoring with 12 points, while Jordan Gaymon led the team in rebounds with eight. Both teams shot over 40 percent in the contest, but the Eagles converted four more 3-pointers than Radford.


The Bulldogs are 17-45 lifetime against the Highlanders, including a 4-26 mark in road games. The Blue & White’s last victory in radford came during the 2010-11 season, when Asheville earned a 70-60 victory over the Highlanders. Former Bulldog Lindsey Montgomery scored a team-high 22 points with 10 rebounds, while former Bulldog Kelli Riles scored 18 and pulled down a then career-high 22 rebounds. Kendall Shepard had 14 points and six assists for Asheville as well.


Asheville will host High Point next Thursday at 7 p.m. before welcoming Liberty to Kimmel Arena next Saturday at 2 p.m. as the Bulldogs will open a two-game homestand.


BULLDOG NOTES:


The Blue & White is being led in scoring by junior guard Brittany Gwyn with a 10.1 scoring average. She tops the Big South in free throw percentage at .837 (41-of-49).


Leading rebounder Jeannie Buckner (4.9) missed contests against Presbyterian and Winthrop before coming back against Longwood due to a hand injury..


Freshman guard Tianna Knuckes has scored in double figures in five of the last seven games, including a career-high 21 point outburst vs. PC on Dec. 30. She recorded the first double-double of the season for the Bulldogs against Logwood, scoring 10 points and pulling down 12 rebounds against the Lancers. The 12 boards were a career best.
