ASHEVILLE, N.C. – There will be a marrow donor registry drive at the UNC Asheville women’s basketball game with North Carolina Central on Saturday afternoon at Kimmel Arena. The event will be hosted by Be The Match organization.
The drive will take place from 1-2:30 p.m. in the Kimmel Arena Lobby. Ages 18 to 44 can participate. All they need to do is fill out a registration form and have the inside of their cheek swabbed to have your tissue type tested.
UNC Chapel Hill head women’s basketball coach Sylvia Hatchell was diagnosed with leukemia last month and has joined forces with Be The Match to help get as many people registered as possible.
Marrow donors are needed to help save the lives of patients with diseases like leukemia, lymphoma or sickle cell anemia.
For more information on Be The Match, you can contact Betsie Lettele at firstname.lastname@example.org. Fans can also make contributions at www.bethematchfoundation.org/goto/teamhatchell. Every $100 raised helps add another member to the registry.
