ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville women's basketball team will try to put behind a frustrating loss on Saturday to Presbyterian College as the Bulldogs take on Gardner-Webb Monday night at Justice Center starting at 7 p.m. Monday's game will be video-streamed and can be seen for a small fee at www.uncabulldogs.com.

Asheville (10-13, 3-7 BSC) lost a disappointing home decision to Presbyterian College, 74-68 on Saturday afternoon.  The defeat was the Bulldogs' sixth straight at Justice Center. Gardner-Webb (14-9, 6-4 BSC) lost a close 56-51 contest to defending Big South Conference champion Liberty on the road on Saturday.

One of Asheville's best moments of the year occurred against Gardner-Webb earlier this year when the Bulldogs slipped past the Runnin' Bulldogs, 60-59 in Boiling Springs on Jan. 29. Gardner-Webb had won four straight games up to that point.

"We played great defense for 40 minutes at Gardner-Webb the last time we played," commented Asheville coach Betsy Blose. "It's going to take a similar effort on Monday night. Gardner-Webb has a very good team and they play good defense, as well."

A bright spot in defeat on Saturday was the play of sophomore forward Kelli Riles. She posted her 10th double-double of the season with 18 points and 13 rebounds.

After Monday's game, the Bulldogs will be off until Saturday when they host Charleston Southern starting at 4:30 p.m. That's a new time than the originally scheduled time of 2 p.m. The UNC Asheville men's team will play Northeastern at 2 p.m.

Bulldogs Notes

Countdown to 1,000 Points: UNC Asheville should have two players scoring their 1,000th career point over the next few games. Senior guard Kendall Shepard has enjoyed a great senior year and is Asheville's leading scorer this season with a 14.8 average. She has 971 points and just needs 29 points to get to 1,000 points. Senior forward Lindsey Montgomery has 942 career points and needs 58 points to get to 1,000.

The Life of Riles: Red-shirt sophomore forward Kelli Riles is having an amazing season for the Bulldogs. She enjoyed her 10th double-double of the season against Presbyterian College on Saturday with 18 points and 13 rebounds. Kelli has been named Big South Player of the Week twice this season. She continues to lead the Big South in rebounding with a 10.5 average and is second in the league in field goal percentage at 55.7 percent.
