Asheville (7-14, 3-6 BSC) is 8-2 against the Chanticleers over the last 10 meetings, including a 69-60 victory at Kimmel Arena on Jan. 7. Four Chanticleers scored in double figures in the game, with Angelica Henry leading the team with 17 off the bench. Asheville dominated the boards in the contest, out-scoring Coastal 39-14 in the paint while out-rebounding the Chants 52-34.
Coastal (11-8, 4-6 BSC) is led offensively by Shatia Cole, a freshman guard from Myrtle Beach HS. Cole averages 12.1 points per contest. Senior guard Olivia Irick is second on the team in scoring, with a 10.1 ppg average. The offense runs through the two guards, who have combined for 85 assists this year.

UNC Asheville is coming off of a tough 88-70 loss to Charleston Southern on Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs took a 45-39 lead into the half, but was outscored 49-25 in the final frame. Freshman phenom Shonese Jones scored a team-high 18 points for the Blue & White, with fellow underclassman Leah Wormack posting 17 in the game.
Jones is currently tied for seventh in the Big South in scoring, averaging 15.5 per game.
CCU is coming off of a 54-40 victory over Gardner-Webb on Saturday. The win, which was the 10th of the season inside Kimbel Arena, snaps the Chanticleers' six game losing skid to the Runnin' Bulldogs. Additionally, Coastal's 14 point victory was its largest conference victory since downing Presbyterian 47-34 on Feb. 5, 2011.
Cole led Coastal in scoring for the eighth time this season with a game-high 16 points on six field goals, including three from deep. Maddox also notched double-figures for the Chants with 10 points.
Shones Jones is the reigning Big South Conference Freshman of the Week. It’s the third time this season she’s earned the honor.
Lindsey Thompson had 981 career points and needs just 19 to become the 15th player in school history to get to 1,000 career points.
The Bulldogs are looking for their first conference sweep of the season. Asheville swept the Chanticleers in two games last season.
Coastal’s last win over UNC Asheville came during the 2009-10 season, a 60-41 win at Kimbel for the Chants.
