LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty had three players score in double figures and shot a blistering 49 percent from the floor en route to a 75-49 victory over UNC Asheville on Saturday afternoon at the Vines Center. 

The Lady Flames were led offensively by Tolu Omotola, who posted a game-high19 points in the contest. Ashley Rininger scored 17 and Devon Brown had 15 for Liberty, while Omotola led all players with eight rebounds.

Asheville was led offensively by Shonese Jones, who scored 17 points for the Blue & White. Grace Blaylock added 10 to the Bulldogs’ total, while Paige Love added seven.

The first half saw the Lady Flames take an early lead, as Liberty shot 50 percent from the floor to take a 36-16 advantage into the break. Blaylock led the Bulldogs in scoring in the frame, posting five points to the Asheville total.

In the second half the Bulldogs fought back against the tough Liberty lineup, but the early deficit was too much to overcome as they fell to the Lady Flames.

Asheville will be at home in the Kimmel Arena for their next contest, when they welcome Big South foe Winthrop next Thursday, Jan. 10. The opening tip is set to begin at 7 p.m. between the two schools.
